Hi! Here is the biography of Theodore Justus Gillett from in Hardesty's Hand Atlas, published in 1882, for Lawrence County, Ohio. His biography appears in those from Rome Township.

THEO. JUSTUS GILLETT - son of Alanson and Sarah (Radford) Gillett, was born in this county and township on the 29th of December, 1830, on the same farm where he now resides. At the age of thirteen he went on his father's boat as clerk. They plied between New Orleans and Shreveport, doing a freight and tow business. At the age of eighteen his father gave the entire charge of the boat to him. In 1855 his father sold the boat, and Theo. then came home and married Emma C. Reckard. He then went into the boating business on his own account, continuing it until 1863, when he came to this county, where he has remained ever since. His father was born August 22, 1802, and his mother June 12, 1812. The latter died February 26, 1866. His father's birth took place in Seneca county, New York, and his mother's in England. His wife's parents were Salmon Reckard, born in Massachusetts, April 24, 1798. died January 24, 1881, and Susan (Stacy) Reckard, born in the same State, July 5, !
1806, died June 5, 1843. The children of Mr. Gillett are as follows: Erminnie Beatrice, born June 24, 1858, resides at home; Theodore Bertran, December 6, 1860, died November 24, 1861; Lulu Lee, July 22, 1862, died May 26, 1863; Hellen Bertranna, March 23, 1866, resides at home; Salmon Chase, November 20, 1867, died June 9, 1869; adopted child, August 1880; George Jack, November 13, 1871, resides at home. The date of Mr. Gillett's marriage was October 16, 1855. His wife was born in Union township, January 17, 1837. Mr. Gillett's postoffice address is LaBelle, Lawrence county, Ohio.
