My grandmother, Ada Delawder was a daughter of Henry R Delawder and Araminta
Burns. Araminta was a daughter of David and Elizabeth Burns, who came to
Ohio in the 1850's, from what is now Lincoln Co, WV, and returned there
sometime between the 1891 marriage of Ada and the 1900 census. They were in
Jackson Co in 1860, and in Aid Twp., Lawrence Co in 1870 and 1880. David
Burns does not appear in the 18990 census of CW Vets., so he apparently did
not serve. I have accumulated quite a bit of info on this Burns family and
its background. Would like to hear from any other descendant of theirs

Henry R Delawder is a son of John Delawder and Nancy Davis. John was a son
of Lawrence Delawder Jr. and Esther Halterman. Henry was born about 1846,
and in the 1850 census he and several brothers and sisters, as well as Nancy,
all appear in the household of Lawrence Delawder Jr., listed as Davises. In
1840 Nancy Davis was living in the next door residence to the Lawrence
Delawder family, with one son under 5. In 1860 there is a household of John
and Nancy Delawder and all the children are now listed as Delawders. Has
anyone ever found a marriage record for this couple? Were they ever formally
married?

I have borrowed, read and copied portions of the large Delawder book, and
seen other info about the origins of this family. While it is nice to have
that info on the earlier generations, I would like to know if anyone has ever
found marriage records for Lawrence Jr and Esther, or for John and Nancy. I
have John's death record, but have never found anything to confirm the death
date listed for Nancy in the compiled history of Lawrence Co Delawders. Have
copy of a Lawrence Co. deed signed by Esther ca 1841 and copies of estate
papers for her father, Jacob Halterman of VA, where she and Lawrence had to
sign off as heirs.
