Subject: [L'wrence] Thomas Sampson, and his son Valentine Sampson- descendants
Date: Sun, 21 Jul 2002 04:20:18 EDT
The Dec. 1814, Greenup Co, KY, marriage of Thomas Lambert and Mary Sampson
lists that they hand the permission of his father Jonathon Lambert, and her
father Thomas Sampson.
Information in the Lambert Papers at Marshall University, Special Collections
section of James Morrow Library, indicates that Mary was a sister of
Valentine Sampson (1799-ca 1856), who married Nancy Higgins (1800-ca1843) in
Lawrence Co, OH, on 18 Jan. 1821.
Thomas Sampson appears in one or two Lawrence Co tax lists, and is probably
the older male with Valentine Sampson and family in the 1830 census. After
Nancy died, Valentine married the widow Catherine Neal, and was divorced from
her. He married again and died in Missouri, about 1856. In 1856, his son
John Sampson filed papers to settle the estate Valentine left in Lawrence Co.
when he moved west.
Interested in contact with any other descendant of any of the above.
