[OHJACKSO] First Families of Jackson county






The Jackson county OGS chapter is working on reestablishing the First
Families of the county and we want to poll your interest in becoming a
member. The criteria will be that you are a direct descendant of a pioneer
settler or settlers who can be verified to have been residing in Jackson
county in or before 1830. The "proof" documentation of your descendancy is
being drafted and will be finalized at some point in (hopefully) the near
future in order to provide guidelines for applicants.

Nearly all county OGS chapters currently have a First Families
organization
and the JCOGS did as well but sadly, ours fizzled out back in the 1980's.
We
want to change that but it can only happen with your help and interest.

Again, details aren't finalized but in looking at what other OGS chapters
are doing with their First Families org's, it seems that a one-time fee of
around $20 along with the application and documentation are fairly
standard.
Please let us know if you have an interest in having your lineage
documented
and on file for your Jackson county ancestors.

As I firmly believe, one of the greatest gifts that we can bestow our
children, grandchildren, etc is the preservation of their heritage by way
of
documentation. So consider doing this noble deed for THEM if for no other
reason!
