If you are a direct descendant of Joseph Eubanks, who's gravestone a few of
us in the JCOGS uncovered in the James Cemetery in 2006 or so, please email
me. Lois Dye Trampe, if you are still on this list........we are cousins. I
was looking at my family tree database to see which of my ancestors may have
been in Jackson county prior to 1820 (am thinking about joining the First
Families of Ohio).
I suspected that my Grandma Coyan's side (Hayth) was here as early as 1820,
but to my surprise, I found that my 3rd great-grandfather, John Hayth, was
married to a Matilda Eubanks. Turns out Matilda Eubanks Hayth was the
daughter of Joseph Eubanks whose gravestone I helped uncover. Joseph came to
Jackson county in 1816. And I had no clue the man was my 4th
great-grandfather or I would have danced a jig right there in the cemetery
(what a sad sight that would have been :)
Anyway, I'd like to hear from some of my Eubanks cousins in order to compare
notes for First Families admittance. I have posted Joseph Eubanks obituary
(and a few other's obits who are buried at James) on the James Cemetery site
if anyone is interested
