Looking for the parents of S. Calvin Hartley born in WVa. married Mary
Elizabeth Smoot. They moved to Meyersdale Pa. where the three brothers
S.C., L.E., and H.P. opened the firm of Hartley & Co., merchants was
established in 1868. The store occupied by the firm was erected by
S.C. Hartley and A.F. John in 1875. It was a large business in
drygoods, clothing, etc.
S. C. had four children my grandfather Charles Homer, Earl S., Lydia
Pearl and Ray Hartley.
S.C. died 08/08/1920 his wife Mary died 04/29/1923, Charles Homer died
10/05/1923 Earl S. died 05/12/1934, Ray died 10/03/1938, Lydia Pearl
died 05/19/1978 all are buried in Meyersdale Pa.
H.P's family also buried in Meyersdale, Pa. he died 03/30/1936, wife
LuLu died 09/12/1955. L.E> Hartley is lost in history as is their
parents any help will be most appreciated. Thank You Barbara
