I think I just figured it out.
"Deeds, A-H 1801-1812" means Deed books A-H, not surnames A-H. From 1801-1836 the Deed books were lettered A to Z and then when they ran out of letters, they switched to numbers starting with Book #1 in 1836.
Is that right?
