First of all, a roll call is usually announced by the list owner. The
Fairfield list owner hasn't been heard from.
A roll call should be where everyone sends in a post regarding their
ancestor in Fairfield (or wherever else one is called for). Full names,
dates and locations are the most useful tools when submitting a roll
call posting. And, always list the ancestor's name in the subject
line. As one person has already mentioned, just seeing roll call in the
subject lines turns most people off and they won't even read you post to
see if you might connect with them. I also delete the ones that just
say roll call and the ones that just list surnames with no other
information.
Roll calls are also usually ended by the list owner. Some list owners
only allow a one week period for them.
