The "Rugh-Mast" house is described in the book Heritage of Architecture and
Arts Fairfield County, Ohio by Ruth W. Drinkle. It is the same house. The
use of "Rugh" in the name is unknown to me. The correct spelling might
actually be "Ruff", which is pronounced roof. It is again a very German
surname. Three Hartman siblings married 3 Ruff siblings between 1892 and
1901.
My description is from years (and there are many of them) of living just up
the road from this house. What you see today is a small composite of what
the farm was like in the past.
The house will always be structurally sound. Most of the houses built of
brick and sandstone in that area have settled perhaps 1 to 1/2 inches in 150
years.
