Hi Brian,
I am having the same quandry, meself. I did contact Ancestry.com in the
past month asking about the FTM 2008. I was told that the rumor was that the
new one should be coming out possibly in September- November time frame. I
think I am going to wait until I read a review for this new one, as like you, I
have read some bad reviews for the 2008 edition.
If you have any luck, could you drop some feedback, so I may have an idea,
also.

Thank you and good Luck.

Hi everyone,
This is Brian Humphreys. Yep, I've been hidding, but now that my charts
have resurfaced after some major household cleaning, I'm ready to rock and roll!

My Problem: I've lost my genealogy data to a computer whose screen broke
with no back up copy. I'm looking for new software because I was using Family
Tree Maker and have heard MANY complaints about their 2008 update. I
attempted to use Family Tree Legends, but got to a point in my tree where I needed
to merge people and it just didn't work. I contacted the company by e-mail,
which has no phone assistance, and never got a reply.
I need a program that:
1. can handle 2 siblings who are direct ancestors of myself, IE a merge
option (happens twice in my tree, and I am my own 7th cousin!)
2. has long entry fields for names and locations. Some of my German names
didn't fit in my first software, Family 3.
3. accepts digitized photos
4. has a wide variety of reports and chart options
5. has helpful features for creating a book
6. creates a source once that can be attached over and over
7. has tech support and looks like it will be around for a while
At this point, I'm not too worried about the cost. I'm willing to spend
some money for a good program.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Brian
