been James GRAHAM."

There is one entry on the NZSG CD "New Zealand Burial Locator"
(http://www.genealogy.org.nz/Sales_11.aspx?CategoryId=11) that I could
see that matched your description (but given that you can't refine the
search by date, I might have missed others in the long list). This was
for a burial record for a James Henry GRAHAM, who was 77 years old when
he died in 1936. This man is buried at the Hamilton East cemetery.

According to the Hamilton City Council's online cemetery database
(http://web.hcc.govt.nz/jsplive/assure32.jsp) he was buried on Wednesday
28 October 1936.

If you are a member of the New Zealand Society of Genealogists (NZSG,
http://www.genealogy.org.nz/) you should enquire at their Certificates
Collection to see if they are holding any documents of interest for your
man.

More information, if you have it, might help us to help you. Do you
know who his parents were? Where and/or when he was born? Who he
married? Any one of these might lead to more information.
