Newtown is a neighborhood in the northwestern part of Queens County.
Newtown was one of the original 5 towns of Queens County when Queens County was formed as one of the original 12 counties of New York on November 1, 1683.
Newtown remained an independent town in Queens County until January 1, 1898 when the western-third of Queens County was absorbed by the new New York City.
Long Island consists of 4 counties (from westt to east): Kings, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk. The westernmost 2 counties are also conterminous with 2 boroughs (Brooklyn and Queens) of New York City.
Good luck.
