My Bennet, Darrow, and Ketcham families were very early residents in Rensselaer County, and I am planning a visit to the are and wondered if I could get some help as to where the best places to visit to find information would be.
Jabin Bennet died there in 1799, but the surrogate records on film don’t give much. Are there more records at the court house that might be helpful.
Also, is there a genealogical or historical society that has early church, tax, or other records?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
