Message Board Post:

My husband's great-grandmother, Bridget Walsh (Welsh), in her application for a Civil War widown's pension, said she married John McLaughlin (also known as Patrick McLaughlin)on April 6, 1861 (handwritten near this is 69, so it could also have been 1869) in Troy N.Y. Th eminister was Rev. E. Thornton. We have been unable to find this minister or find out what church he was at. The family was Catholic, and their presence in Troy was unusual, because the whole family was from Ware, Mass. Has anybody heard of this minister or does anyone have any suggestions?? No Thornton in Troy in the 1860 census.
Anne Neville
