Dear Folks,
I know that my current eyeglass prescription isn't quite what I'd like it to
be but maybe at my age it's the best they can do.
But here's what's been bugging me for a number of months. I've mentioned
that like to curl up in my favorite chair with my murder mystery book and
listen to the non-stop classical music on my cable TV. There are virtually
no commercials and no spoken words on that channel but every once in awhile
I glance up to see what is being played and who composed it. There's a
problem however. The TV is about a couple of feet too far for me to read
the "fine" print and so it brings up the challenge to guess everything I'm
trying to read. Invariably at first glance I'm wrong. Yes I can make out
Bach, Brahms, Beethoven and such but it's even more difficult for me to read
anything else.
It's gotten to the point where I'm getting a little silly about what I THINK
I'm reading. For instance, on more than one occasion, I tried to read the
composer's name and all that I could come up with was Hungariandick. Upon
closer examination I realized that it read Humperdink. And then when I
tried to read the name of the symphony or concerto, all that I could make
out was that is was in the key "O" major! "O"??????
Frankly, I've been trying to figure out how I can bring the TV up close
enough to me to read the fine print but I'm hesitant about disturbing my
decor. I like it just the way it is. Nonetheless, if I continue to be
bugged about not being able to read what's on the TV screen, who cares about
decor? Certainly Martha Stewart isn't in any position to give me advice!
:-)
