Dear Wayne
Thanks for your message. I'm quite amazed at your website and excited to see some information I didn't know about John Bland's ancestry. My family tree is a fraction of the size of yours but I have some background to Sarah's ancestry I think you will be interested in and my own branch of the Bland tree (descended from Joseph Hargreaves Bland's brother John) which I will happily send you. I just need to put it together in something I can email to you. Give me a couple of days!
In the meantime, do you know anything about a John E Bland born Idle/Windhill, Yorkshire about 1869. (Grandson of John and Sarah, brother of my g-grandfather). He disappears from the UK census and just might be the John E Bland who arrives in the USA on 15 March 1886 age 17 (from Liverpool on the Adriatic). Also John's sisters made a bequest in their wills to their niece Alice Bott of Saylesville Rhode Island (papers drawn up in 1950). If John did go to the US, Alice could be his daughter. The other possibility is that she is the daughter of eldest sister Julia and William Seaforth Alderson. Any information about this part of the family would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Jill Bland
