I am searching for the parents of both my ancestors, John O'Bryan born @1794 in Dutchess County, NY & his wife Rhoda born @1795 in Saratoga county. Her maiden name may have been Vail.
John & Rhoda were members of the Quaker Meeting church at Glens Falls in Warren County. John came to Fulton County in @1815; Rhoda's family had moved there in @1812. Probably this was the place where they were married, but no date is known; their oldest son, James was probably born in 1817.
Both are buried in the Broadalbein Cemetery, Broadalbein, Fulton Co., New York. John seems to have farmed, but sold most of his land in the 1830's & 1840's. In 1841 he bought a half interest in a grist mill and tannery from the builder of the mill, William Vail; the tiny settlement by it is still called Vail's Mills. John died on Nov. 27, 1870; Rhoda died on April 6, 1877.
Children - James @1817 m. Margaret , Nelson @1819 d. 11-2-1904 m. Deborah Simmons 12-16-1847 Paris 11--6-1821 d. 6-22-77 m. 1 - Jane Weatherbee b. 3-3-1824 d. 1-3--1844 m. 2 - Eunice Taylor b. 10-18-1834 d. 12-8-1918 , Sarah @1828 m. Cornell, Mary @1830 William @1833 Martha @1834 d. 2-9-1890 * Eliza b.11-30-1835 d. 6-26-1901 m. 11-26-1855 Edward H. Taylor m. in Fulton Co., N.Y." I think the children's names were taken from a will, I do not have it.
1. Could the owner of the mill, William Vail be Rhoda's father? In the Broadalbein Cemetery in Dulton Co., N.Y. , the headstone has three names - John Rhoda Vail
2. Where can I obtain their Quaker Records?
3. Was John the Immigrant ancestor?
Thank you for your help!
