Subject: [NYDUTCHE] A Reply from Dutchess County Clerk Brad Kendall
Date: Wed, 02 Sep 2009 13:45:52 -0400
Ginny has received a reply from Dutchess County Clerk Brad Kendall dated
Monday, Sept. 1, 2009 in regard to the e-mail I sent him on Friday August
28, 2009 - Subject "Thank You & Missing Clerk's Minutes" - Chairman Kendall
utilized "Reply to All" on his reply. However since I do not believe County
Clerk Kendall subscribes to the Dutchess Roots List his reply was not
distributed to the list.
Today, Ginny has also replied to County Clerk Kendall's reply - both of
which you can read by clicking on the link below if you so wish.

Local Advocates, Historians and Researchers - can use your support NOW.
If possible please take a few minutes of your time to:
encourage the County Executive to fill the County Historian Vacancy created
by former Historian Stanley Mersand's resignation last fall
and
also encourage the County Legislature to see they take steps to investigate
and ensure Dutchess County's compliance with the County Charter
http://www.ginnyflies.com/dccharter.html regarding County Historian and with
the purpose and intent Local Law #3 of 1986
http://www.ginnyflies.com/dclocallaw1986_3.html , and also by taking all
steps within their power to ensure: this County obtains an ARCHIVIST; action
is taken on the 2002 Historical Records Needs Assessment Grant Study
http://www.ginnyflies.com/histrecs_needsassess2002.pdf , and the Records
Management Advisory Board becomes an active and viable entity within County
Government.
Dutchess County MUST develop a comprehensive plan and funding to accomplish
the LONG TERM GOAL of compliance to ensure the County's Historical Records
are preserved, and accessible to the public with an archives geared to
historical research and where such records are archivally stored in a
temperature and humidity controlled environment. A County Historian and the
Records Managment Advisory Board and its members must play the part of vital
advocates in this regard.
The County does not have to do this alone, there are organizations within
this county willing to help on a volunteer basis, if only the hand is
extended to them.
County Clerk Kendall has stated his willingness to meet with the Co.
Executive and the Legislature to accomplish the LONG TERM GOAL - therefore
we must hold the County Executive and the Legislature to doing the same.
WRITE as soon as possible. Please - Your support on this issue will be
greatly appreciated by researchers across Dutchess County, the state and
nation.
