I tell you the people with such vivid imaginations! First, the South Valley Catholic cemetery (correct name) does not border the town of Carroll. It is in the town of South Valley which is still in Cattaraugus Co. by several miles. The mailing address of the people who live in South Valley is undoubtedly Frewsburg as there is no post office in the area now. There was a little settlement there which finally became known as Onoville. This is under water now because of the Kinzua dam.
The people had a Catholic church - the only one for miles around. An epidemic of Smallpox did wipe out most of these Irish settlers especially the children.
Please check with Painted Hills.com for a list of the deceased and buried in the South Valley Catholic cemetery.
