Author: aurina Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.albany/7475.2.3.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: i do a lot of research north of albany-the counties which border canada. for many of my relatives, while there may have been a church, there was not necessarily a resident priest-not a large enough catholis pop or not enough priests. the priests were itinerant, sometimes crossing state borders, and the canadian border. sometimes when you search the bapt records u will see that the church or religeous marriage took place after the civil one, and that the 1 mos old, 2 yr old and 5 yr old all baptized on the same day-sometimes when the priest was in the area the residents could not get there. i do not know if this is the case in the albany area. for dirctories, go to your family history library - find one here www.familysearch.org and order the films for the yrs u want - Title Troy (New York) city directories Subjects New York, Rensselaer, Troy - Directories New York, Albany - Directories New York, Saratoga - Directories Physical 116 microfiches, 25 microfilm reels ; 35 mm.
