Subject: [NYALBANY] 1790 census Albany Co, NY

In the 1790 census of Albany Co, NY are found the following names which are of interest to me.

Cornelius Brower 2-2-4-0-0
John Brower 1-4-3-0-0
Cornelius Brower 1-1-4-0-2
George Brewer
Uldrick Brower

John Day
William Manning
Christopher Lawyer

Are there any researchers working on these names, or recognise them?

I believe, but may be wrong, that the BROWER families in Albany as of the 1790 census are descended from Matthys Brouwer, s/o of Adam, and also from Willem Brouwer, s/o of Adam.

One of the Cornelius Brower names above may be married to Jacomyntje Meck, m6-4-1780 DRC Albany, NY.

The Uldrick Brower mentioned above may be married to Nesje Campbell, or Aeltje Ackeman.

I am very interested to find more about WILLIAM MANNING: did he have a daughter Abigail Manning b. 1772? Did she marry Jacob Brower in 1790?

The children of Jacob Brower and Abigail Manning are:
John Abraham Brower b. 1791
Jacob Brower b. 1794
Jeremiah Brower b. 1801
Martha Brower b. 1802
Lawyer Brower b. 1805
Chancellor Livingston Brower b. 1808

Note: Chancellor Livingston is a Political name, not a family name. It refers to the FIRST Chancellor of the State of New York, who was Robert Livingston, otherwise known as Chancellor Livingston.

Of the children listed above, ONLY Jacob and Martha remained in NY, the others left NY permanently for the Mid-West as of 1815.

I shall appreciate any Manning, Brower or Lawyer information.
Best regards,
Lillian Kathleen Martin
