William EMSLIE (b. 1787 Aberdeen) left Edinburgh, Scotland in 1833, age
abt 46 yrs with his daughter Jane EMSLIE ( b. 1816) age abt 17 yrs.
(Wife Margaret may have died before Jane & Wm. came to NY) Wm.'s
naturalization intent (filed in 1834, Albany) lists his port of
embarkation as Leith. They may have arrived in NYC or another port in
New York State. (Wm. d. in 1860-1861 Albany- source city directory)

How can I find a list of ships that left Leith, Scotland in 1833 &
arrived in New York (NYC or Albany)?

I've heard that Newspapers often listed new immigrants in the Newspaper.
I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions.
