I remember those bricks. I'm not sure, but I think some of them, at
least, are still there. *g* I think those bricks and cobblestones will
outlast the macadam. And me. lol I remember turning my ankles
innumerable times when shopping in heels. What women go through! lol

Do you all remember the replica of the Haelve (what's the Dutch
spelling? of Half) Moon on top of the old depot downtown? I still look
at it, one of the city's best things (other than cobblestones lol.

Speaking of landmarks, do you remember the dog, was it a Dalmatian, on
top of the RCA building on the way to Wards in Menands, I think on
Broadway? For you young people, this dog was the trademark of a record
company. It's on top of a 3-4 story building and stands probably 20-30
feet high. Anyone know? I haven't been that way in years, but I think
it's still there. And speaking of Menands, remember the Huyck Felt Mill
where the black swans lived in a pond in front of it? My mother worked
in there as a secretary in the 40s. I'll have to make a trip that way
some day soon. Wouldn't it be something if the swans were still there?
There was a rumor they were fierce! Maybe watchdogs? *g*

I lived in Arbor Hill on Third Street duing the 30's, 40's and 50's.
The
streets were all cobblestone and the sidealks were edged with red brick.
I
took a brick up in front of my grandmother's house and had the masons
insert
it into my fireplace in Napa. It has CATSKILL on it.
