Yes, there is still an arsenal there. They produce the large cynical
shaped barrels for the guns on the battleships.During the 1980 Olympics
in Lake Placid, I ran into someone from Underhill, Vt. and they told me
that the Watervliet Arsenal would test fire the barrels in Underhill. I
don't know if that was true--but they liken it to, "You could shoot a gun
in town and not hit anybody."
