Hi Phyllis,
Unfortunately, never having been to NY, I didn't realize that "upstate"
covered so large an area.
And "Upstate" is the only clue I have, except it's believed to be "very"
North, the family was also well off so
would be likely to live in a very nice area, and they were well schooled
and involved in artistic endeavors.
I realize that's not much to go on, but hopefully it will be something
to help narrow the area down a bit.
