OK, I'm going to answer my own question.

I found the answer in "Genealogy of the Pendarvis-Bedon Families of South Carolina, 1670-1900" by James Barnwell Heyward, 1905 (find online at http://contentdm.lib.byu.edu/).

According to Mr. Heyward (on page 67), here is how the BEDON family relates to the NORMAN and BARNETT families:

Major Richard BEDON m. Elizabeth (--??--). They had four children:
1. Mary BEDON m. (--??--) HEWETT
2. Ann BEDON m. George BARNETT
3. Colonel Richard BEDON m. (1) unknown, (2) Martha WHITMARSH
4. Elizabeth BEDON m. John NORMAN

Additional details (dates, locations, wills, etc.) can be found at my RootsWeb site:
http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=normanroots&id=I994

Note that Maj BEDON's father, George, spelled his last name BEADON. George BEADON was the immigrant ancestor (from England).

Cheers,

Ken
