Dear List, I am trying to make a bridge to Germany on the Künstig (Kuensting) Family. I have been unsuccessful in all my attempts so far. My greatgrandfather, Johann Meinolph Künstig, arrived in St. Louis, Missouri in the period 1846-48. He was married. His wife's name was Christine. Her name appears on a deed for a lot purchase in early 1848. When the lot was sold later that year mention of her was absent. He married my greatgrandmother late in the year. The record mentions he was a widower. It also gives his father's name, Anton Künstig and his mother's name, Catharina Henke. His brother Franz Künstig had come to America with him.
Is anyone on the List working with this family, Künstig (Kuensting)? Do anyone know a district or town where this surname is plentiful? I have found a family in Brenken, near Büren, Kreis Paderborn, Nordrhein-Westfalen, but I cannot make a connection. Thanking you in advance for any help from the List. Paul Hoer
