Gudde(California Gold Camps) says Weberville was at the confluence of Weber
and Hangtown Creeks. This confluence is in the NW quater of the NW quarter of
the Placerville USGS quadrangle. He says the spelling was Weber, Webber or
Weaver. The 1850 census shows 906 folks there and in the vicinity. "A picture
of the now vanished Weberville was published in California Historical
Quarterly VI(p238)." The confluence of the 2 creeks is a few hundred feet SE
of the town of Cold Springs, about 5 mile WNW of Placerville, close south of
the Placerville-Cold Springs Road, just before the town. Cold Springs is so
close that one might suspect it is the Weberville site, although Gudde doesn't
mention in his writeup of Cold Springs. There is a cemetery at Cold Springs.
Perhaps someone from Placerville can help you.
