Hi Margie,
Are you referring to the "Cherokee Hydraulic Diggins" located north of
Oroville on Highway 70? I visited there a couple of times while on
business trips in the '80s. It is really impressive as an example of a
large hydraulic mining enterprise. I wondered how the name had
originated and now we know the "rest of the story". Thanks.
