Glad to hear you were able to check out the Bancroft book, cause I tried to photocopy a page out of it for my own records, and the book is so thick that it's almost impossible to get a clear copy. The words that are nearest the center of the page by the seam come out all blurred.

I wanted to ask you one other thing...since you have a special interest in Oregon and live there yourself, maybe you can help. My dad's father, Alexander Watson Kane, was born in Ahsland, Oregon around bet. 1880-1885. I have never been able to find any info on him. I have his death certificate, but his parents are listed as 'unknown'. Have you run across the name 'Kane' at all in your Oregon research? Alex married Irma Asbill, daughter of Pierce Asbill.
