In their February viewers magazine, Oregon Public Broadcasting lists the
following
two programs.

I have no idea as to whether they will be shown at the same times on other PBS
outlets, but thought that they might be interesting.

Monday, February 9, 9pm[PST]:

Part of THE AMERICAN EXPERIENCE series, this program is titled
THE SUDDEN DEATH. It was this countries worse epidemic. This month,
the American Experience presents INFLUENZA 1918, the story of a flu that
killed more than 600,000 Americans in a matter of months. "For the survivors
we spoke to" says producer Robert Kenner, "the memory is one of horror
and fear---which may explain why many Americans were willing to let those
few terrible months fade into obscurity. Schoolchildren know more about
the Black Plague from centuries ago than they do about this episode in our
recent history"

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 8pm[PST]:

AMERICA IN THE FORTIES is an all-new "nonfiction musical" that recalls the
'40s through the music, fads, fashion, films, sports and war news that came
out of that turbulent era. This three hour special introduces storytellers
from
every corner of the republic.

A migrant farmworker from Kentucky who went barefoot till she was 11 and
grew up to be a champion of working people.

A Mexican zoot-suiter from Los Angeles who remembers the women on
the home front with bittersweet humor.
[I remember a question by a list member about what was a zoot suit]

Crafted from the moods and memories of a generation whose childhood
was shaped by the Great Depression and whose character was forged in
the chaos of World War II, AMERICA IN THE '40s is part of PBS' commitment
to keep American history alive for the next generation.

No guarantees on the quality of the programs or that they will be shown
on same day and time, but for those on the list interested in more than
bare bones genealogy, they may be helpful.
