EDGAR EUGENE LEE

Edgar Eugene Lee was born on July 3, 1875 in Van Zandt County, Texas, and died September 23, in Eureka Springs at the age of 85 years. His home was in this city.

Mr Lee is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jewell Rodebush, of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Margaret Maier of Russellville, Arkansas; a sister, Mrs. Sallie Smith of Dallas, Texas; 4 grandchildren, and none great grandchildren. His wife, and one daughter, Sarona Ellen Lee, preceeded him in death.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, September 25th, at 2:00 p.m., at the Eureka Springs Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gerald Jackson, officiating. Burial was in the Eureka Springs I.O.O.F. Cemetery, under the direction of Nelson Funeral Home, Berryville.

1. "Mrs Sallie Smith" is the former Sallie J. LEE (b. 31 Oct 1876 d. 30 May 1971 Dallas,Dallas,TX) who married W.H.C. SMITH in Van Zandt County, TX 04 Nov 1894.
They are known to have been living in Dallas,Dallas,TX in 1903.

2. "His wife who preceeded him" is the former Sarah Ellen GREATHOUSE (b. May 1881 TN d. Kenna,Roosevelt,NM), daughter of Hubbard Peyton GREATHOUSE and Sarah Elizabeth HIX. Edgar and Sarah were married in Van Zandt County, TX 08 Apr 1900.

3. "one daughter, Sarona Ellen Lee," was born abt 1902,Van Zandt County, TX and died abt 1912, Kenna,Roosevelt,NM. Sarona Ellen was named in honor of her aunt Sarona G. (GREATHOUSE) WHITAKER who died in a tragic accident 14 Aug 1908 and is buried in White Rose Cemetery, Van Zandt County.

4. The parents of Edgar Eugene LEE and Sallie J. LEE are unknown.
