To Gail in Bergen City, NJ...
Have you checked with the Ocean County Historical Society for information on
your Issac Clayton? It seems Toms River was heavily populated with Clayton's
in the
early days..the cemetaries are sure filled with many, especially the one on
Hooper Avenue in Toms River (almost to Bricktown). The church is still there
but
no longer a church so I can't recommend a place for records. That area is
also known as Silverton. In fact, I've been told most of Silverton was the
"Clayton Homestead" and decendents today own blocks of strip malls there.
Ever hear of Clayton Concrete? It's big around the county.
Also, there have been quite a few Clayton's in Red Bank, NJ.
Good luck!
