New DNA Results are in!
Hello Nix mailing list and those who have been following the Nix DNA project's progress! I am excited to announce we have another set of DNA results back from the lab. Our latest results are from our Australian Nix participant. His family resided in the Lincolnshire, UK area for several centuries before their immigration to Australia in the 1830s. His results do not match any of the American Nix participants. I am hopeful we can get another example of a Nix male with ancestors from the Lincolnshire, UK area tested in the future so that we can find a match for him!
General Project News:
I added two new group family photographs to the old photo gallery section. Its part of the gallery of the 10 matching project members (those show in light blue background on results table). These latest photos were provided by a Nix family tree researcher, and they are of the of Littleberry and Francis Marion Nix and their families. Both men were the nephews of member # 49147's ancestor Edward Nix of Newton Co, GA. (Note to Dalton: one of the men in the group photos is Benjamin Jennings Nix. Thought you might be especially interested in taking a look at him)
Work is still underway on the 1850 census abstracts for the Nix and Nicks families in the US. Its slow going at the moment since work has me bogged down at present, but progress is being made.
Work is also underway on including full pension application abstracts for several of the soldiers in the American Revolutionary War listings.
Work is still underway on the biography of "old" Edward Nix who died in 1776 in South Carolina. Currently trying to locate all available deed records for him, particularly in various Virginia counties. If any of you already have copies or abstracts of any of the VA deeds for old Edward, your assistance would be appreciated.
regards,
Thomas Nix
