I have a Jean Nichol in my Nichol connections. She was born in Montreal in 1897, daughter of William Grieve Nichol and Nellie Gore Hart. (William Grieve Nichol was the oldest brother of my great-grandfather.) I'm intrigued about your mentioning your Jean Nichol as being headmistress of a school in Montreal. Part of the information I have on my Jean Nichol comes from her Social Security application (she moved to the US at some point). The application lists her employer as The Masters School, Dobbs Ferry NY. The SS application was made in October 1953. Her full name was Edythe Keys(?) Jean Nichol and she was commonly known as Jean K. Nichol. She apparently never married and she died in NYC in 1966 (buried in Montreal). Her family at one time lived in several locations in Ontario before ending up in Montreal. Would love to know if there's a connection between our Jeans (genes?)!
