Hello David - first off, I can't help you with your family, sorry. None of them are in my lines. But I do know about the little towns around Chesterfield, and they usually have the town records in the Town Hall, in the Town Clerk's office, unless they were burned in the very early years when they were kept in homes. Most go back a long way. I would write to the Town Clerk about what you need to know. Lately there has been so much geneological interest that the old original records were getting shopworn, so volunteers have copied them off in many of the towns, and anybody can go to look things up.

Hope you find your George and Rhoda. Winnie

Hello-
I would like to ask if anyone on the list has run across mention of a
GEORGE B. ROBERTSON (born about 1808) with wife RHODA who migrated from
the Chesterfield NH, Cheshire County area (in the 1839-1844 time period)
to Montgomery County, Illinois. I am a descendant of this Robertson and
am trying to go back another generation or more.....I think George is
descended from Archibald Robertson and son James Robertson, etc, the
family who first settled in Chesterfield in the mid 1700s, but I haven't
found an exact link (his parents/siblings names) yet.
Any info or advice on where to write for more info would be kindly
appreciated. Does the Chesterfield Courthouse (or Clerk's office?) have
birth or marriage records going back to 1800 or earlier?
Thanks very much!
David Whitten
