No, you're not too late at all! The response is very welcome. Those maiden
names would be such a help to all genealogists, if only the ancestors had
thought to provide them more often. Some burial records and/or headstones
do state the maiden name of the woman: Ex. "Elizabeth Shaw, wife of William
Mason"... Unfortunately, those kinds of references are unusual.

Of course, once your 4th gr grandmother told you her maiden name, you'd
have 47 new questions for her! <g> That's the nature of genealogy... one
answer opens up a new frontier of possibilities and unknowns. That's
probably precisely what keeps us all interested in this hobby.
