Portsmouth in New Hampshire, Sept 2.
Yesterday died here the Hon. Benjamin GAMBLING, Esq., who was a gentleman of a great deal of natural wit, and a good scholar; he was a strict adherent to justice and truth, a true lover of his country, and a zealous supporter of its privileges. He was a member of His Majesty's Council, one of the Justices of the Superior Court, Judge of Probate, and Deputy Judge of the Vice-Admiralty; the duty of which offices he discharged with a good capacity, and equal fidelity. He was formerly Clerk of the Inferior Court, then High Sheriff, an afterwards a Pleader of the Law, and got himself a good character in their business by his ability and honesty. He died in the faith of Jesus, was a found believer, with catholick principles and an extensive charity.
