Hi Althea and thank you for the welcome. I contacted the Fencible
Museum/Village and the GM said that there was some information he was
sending me about my James McLaren. It will be interested to see what this
produces. Also the one and only child of JM, Matilda has her photograph in
the village apparently (so I'm told) so I've asked for this to be scanned to
a .jpg and sent to me. I hope that they will do this. I offered to pay
all/any expenses. Has anyone online been to the village? I am in Melbourne
but looking forward to visiting there one day soon.

Althea, is there a sketch/drawing in existence of the Minerva or Howick
settlement? Quite a bit I don't know about the Fencibles.

Just a quick note as I'm off to work in less than an hour.

My ancestors were on MINERVA as well
Archibald moran, wife Susan and 3 children: Barbara, Margaret and John (John
I haven't been able to locate as yet aany info for)
Have you joined the Fencibles group or contacted the society for info

James is mentioned in the "Royal NZ Fencibles Book 1847-1852)
