This is an interesting line from Kay. Is anyone else is working on this line? Thanks - Linda

Hi,

I was telling the list that the others that are not Niekirk's are looking for their cousins or kin as well. Our name is closely associated with yours. Many of the Germans used Niekirk or Newchurch or some dirivitive of it. Our name was Nienkark. We came from Mecklenburg Schwerin.

We have a Johann Jochim Carl Nienkark born January 10, 1830 married to Charlotte Sophia Garling Nienkark and their four sons releasing their citizenship from Germany to go to the USA. This is a signed and sealed document from the German government and it states that Johan Jocahim Carl Nienkark residing at Klein Upahl, district Dobbertin, local principelity and his wfe Charlotte Sophia nee Garling taking Ludwig Carl Christion Johann born on March 3, 1862 and Heinrich Carl Friedrich born on August 17, 1865 and Carl Heinrich Christipher and Friedrich Ludwig Elias both born on May 24, 1867 (twins). Along with (American) Joseph and Charlotte Nichols was his mother Elisabeth Sophia Posfehl born July 13, 1801in Lohmen, Germany.

There were two more sons of Elisabeth Sophia Posfehl Nienkark living in the USA already. They came over earlier and started their lives in Western New York State. Mainly Westfield, New York. First Christopher Nichols and Charles Nichols (Nienkark). I found Elisabeth living with Charles in the NY census of 1875.

The reason I am sending this is because of the list administrator saying that she had others her were not necessarily Niekarks so knowing how they had fractured their name from the German root name I thought I would send this along just in case someone else is out there with the same problems of finding someone out there who belongs to their family.

Thank you for your time. Kay
