RONDA - Mrs. June V. Childress Walker, 77, of Clingman Road passed away Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. She was born Feb. 11, 1925, in Wilkes County to the late Bob and Maggie Chambers Childress Walker. Mrs. Walker was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Clingman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Calvin Walker. Surviving are her son, Lee (Barbara) Walker, of Ronda; two grandchildren, Keith (Stephanie) Blackley and Michael Walker; two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Morgan Blackley; two sisters, Peggy (Larry) Brown of Ronda and Francis Welborn of Brooks Crossroads; and three brothers, Bobby Childress of Roaring River, Bill (Freddie) Walker of Ronda and Rodney (Sue) Walker of Ronda. Her funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, in the Gentry Family Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Olin Barker. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
