I'm also related through your connection to James Lindley and Eleanor
James Lindley was an emigrant to Chester Co, Pennsylvania from Co Wicklow,
b. 16 Apr 1681 Ballinaclash, Co Wicklow, Ireland, d. 13 Oct 1726 Chester
James was Quaker and purchased 1,000 acres of land in New Garden and
Londongrove Twps, Chester Co. The town of Avondale (home to mushroom growers) sits
on much of his original plantations. One of his homes may be still standing
-- I have not been able to confirm this but there is a brick building from
the early 1700s that looks like it might be on the Londongrove property.
James was the son of James Lindley, Sr. b. 16 Apr 1641 Cheshire, England,
d. 16 Jul 1714 Timulin, Co Wicklow, Ireland. James, Sr. married Alice
Wilsmith 1677 Cronagallagh, Co Wicklow.
James Jr. had a brother, Thomas, who also emigrated to Pennsylvania. Thomas
Lindley b. 11 Jan 1683/84 in Ballinaclash, d. 5 Oct 1752 in Philadelphia;
Thomas married Hannah Durborow.
Eleanor Parke (sometimes spelled "Elinor") was born 2 Jan 1683/84 in
Ballyredman, Co Carlow, Ireland, the daughter of Irish emigrants Robert Parke and
Margery Medowe. Robert Parke was born 1658 in Liverpool, Lancashire, England
and d. 1736 in Chester Co, PA; Margery was born about 1664 in Sefton,
Lancashire and died in Chester Co, PA. Robert and Margery Parke were Quaker and
had children: Elinor, Martha, Robert, William, Thomas, Sarah and Elizabeth.
Some of Robert's siblings also emigrated to Pennsylvania.
James and Eleanor were married 14 Apr 1705 in Kilconnor, Ireland.
I descend from James and Eleanor's son, Thomas, who moved to Orange Co, NC
(his farm now a part of Alamance Co). Some of Thomas' land there is still
held by family members, Lindleys and Braxtons.
I hope this helps. Googling James and Eleanor will probably give you much
more information on their families.
<John Woody married Mary Lindley in Maryland in 1738. He died in Orange
County, NC in 1762. I do not know his parentage.
Mary Lindley was born in 1717, possibly in Chester, PA and died in Orange
County, NC in 1795. Her parents were James Lindley and Eleanor Parke. I
no dates or locations for her parents.>>
