I don't know if you have seen it, but there were a Jesse and a Joseph
Barnett listed in the 1771 Militia in Granville, commanded by Capt.
Williams. The list is included in "The History of Granville County" from an
article in the Oxford Public Ledger published in 1903, by William H.
Harrison, which is online, and some of the info in it can be quite helpful
to those researching some of those early Granville settlers.
