Am searching for Moore, Owen and Grant families that moved from Southside VA to Granville, Orange, and Caswell Counties, NC, in the last quarter of 18th century. When I search Ancestry for these people in the 1790 census, their index turns up several people with page numbers in these three counties. But when I go looking for the actual census, I am told the 1790 was "lost" for those three counties.

Does anyone know the source of Ancestry's information? Was there a substitute for the 1790 census in those counties?
