Date: Tue, 26 Aug 2008 22:08:15 -0400
The summer is winding down and the Labor Day holiday will be here before you know it. Am sending this notice out a little early as perhaps some of you will be away for the long weekend. See you Thursday night at 6:30 pm
Have a safe and happy Labor Day and enjoy the last "summer holiday".
September 4th Program Details
Featured Speaker: Dr. Richard L. Taylor
The speaker for the September 4th meeting of the Granville County Genealogical Society 1748, Inc. will be the Society's vice president, Dr. Richard Taylor, known to society members as "Dick Taylor", who will speak on "Adding Substance to Your Genealogical Data Using Newspapers".
Previous speakers, on the subject of newspapers, have focused primarily on the historical aspects of newspaper research. Dr. Taylor is planning a little different approach, concentrating on news items that appeared in newspapers from time to time that will "add meat to the bones" of people in your research. He will provide examples of what he has done along these lines.
Dr. Taylor is a native of Oxford and returned home to practice medicine after finishing his education and a stint in the U. S. Navy. He is married to the former Julia Ann Hamme, who is also a Granville County native and they have one son.
Members and visitors are encouraged to attend this meeting which is open to all. The meeting is held in the Conference Room of the Richard H. Thornton Library on Main Street in Oxford, N. C. and will start promptly at 6:30 pm.
