CALL FOR PAPERS

The Journal of the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society is
currently soliciting articles for the spring 2004 issue that will focus
on "Historic African American Communities." An important
aspect of the African American experience can be told by researching and
documenting the establishment of African American communities (e.g.,
economic independence, self-government, and social equality).
While papers on any aspect of historic African American communities are
welcome, we are particularly interested in papers that examine the

-Local Histories
-African American settlements in Canada
-Biographies of community founders, noted community leaders and their
families
-Black Migration West;
-Community Businesses/Industries
-Research methodologies

Submission Guidelines: The cover page should include the manuscript
title, author name, affiliation, mailing address, phone and fax numbers,
as well as e-mail address. The manuscript must be typed on 8 " x 11"
(i.e., letter size) white paper, double-spaced, 12 point font with 1"
margins. Manuscripts should not exceed 15 pages including endnotes).
