I'm currently researching my family history.
My Great Great Grandfather was a George Taylor. He was born in or around 1831 as he was 50 years old per the 1881 census.
He was born in Monmouth England. He was a farm labourer.
He married a Hannah Davies on the 13th April 1862 at the (St Thomas) Parish Church in the Parish of Dudley in the County of Worcester.
On the Marriage Certificate it states his father was an Edward Taylor, who was a Miller, but was unfortunately dead at the time of the wedding. Mother not identified.
In the 1881 Census they live at 10 Cradley Road, Netherton, Dudley. Family History Library Film - 1341691. Public Records RG11 Piece / Folio 2882 /4
In the 1841 Census (HO 107 / 1196/14) highlights a Edward Taylor (aged 38) Married to a Mary Taylor (aged 40) with the following children - Edwin (aged 10) George (aged 13) and Robert (aged 5) living in the Dixons Green area of Dudley.
Had the family moved from Monmouth to Dudley in the West Midlands ????
George and Hannah went on to have the following children :- Edward (born 1866 aged 15) George ( Born 1868 aged 13) Joseph (Born 1870 aged 10) James (Born 1873 aged 8) Ann (Born 1876 aged 5)
Interestingly a Charles Brooks Farm Labourer (aged 18) was lodging with them, he was from Hereford, England from the 1881 Census, a relative perhaps.
If anyone can shine any light on the Taylor family possibly originating from Monmouth I would be deeply indebted.
