I hadn't isolated it geographically, but did find several missing. I had
attributed it to people who were residing elsewhere until the heat of the
Civil War settled and it was safe to come home.

I also noticed several people who were missing from the Cole County census
over various years--people I know were here. Some were business men who
lived above their establishments and simply didn't get enumerated by the
census takers.

I have noticed over the years that there are numerous people who are
missing from the 1870 Miller County census. I think that all of the area
in the
southern part was missed. Tylers, Gradys, Burlingames, etc. I think that
it was an error by the census taker, or it was lost and never made it to
the National Archives.
