The Iberia Sentinel, February 1936

The body of George Newhart, who died of a heart attack at the
R.R. office in E. St. Louis, Ill., February 8, was shipped to Crocker
Tuesday night and was brought from there over to Iberia early Wednesday
morning in the Adams & Casey ambulance. From here it was taken to the Union
church near Brays where funeral services conducted by Rev. P.J. Eckhoff of
Iberia were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock after which interment was
made in the cemetery at that place.

Mr. Newhart had been employed as a railroad switchman for the
Illinois Central in East St. Louis for a number of years. He is survived by
two brothers and one sister, Charles T. Newhart of near Iberia, Will Newhart
of Tulsa, Okla., and Mrs. Mary Wheeler of Carterville, Mo. He was 63 years
of age at the time of his death. The Sentinel joins in extending sympathy
to the bereaved.
