Yup...got it. :) And this wasn't the only one or two. There were a number of
unexplained fires during that time. All associated with the same group of
people and all attempts to silence witnesses and the general public from
ratting out a gang of bad guys.

Just wanted to make sure you had this one about another fire, too.
Don't know if/how Claiburn Moss is related to Thomas Moss &/or the
Marsdens.

The blacksmith and wagon-maker shop at Sandy Ridge, was burned down last
Sunday night with all the contents. It is supposed to have been the work
of an
incendiary, as no fire had been in the shop that day, the blacksmith, Fritz
KOCH,
and wagon-maker, Claiburn MOSS, being both away from home. There was no
insurance, and the loss will be severe to both men, as they had valuable
tools.
We do not want to believe that any one in the neighborhood is so mean as to
do such a trick, but circumstances indicate such to be the case.

The residence of Mrs. Louisa Marsden on Sandy was set fire to and burned
up,
last Monday night. The house was occupied at the time by Mrs. Marsden and
her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Moss, and daughter-in-law, Mrs. John Marsden. The
opinion prevails that the building was fired for the purpose of getting
Thomas Moss out of the way in order to suppress evidence in the hog cases
that have been exciting that neighborhood. An investigation is taking
place.
